got a new tattoo! I have two already and I promised myself after my second one I would be done, but I thought about getting this one tattoo for a long time so tonight me, Haley, Kari, Anne-Marie, Emily-Ann, Nicole and Stephanie went to liquid swords in Ann Arbor and got them. It was such a fun bonding experience I can’t even begin to explain it. It was so funny.
It says “fight off your demons” which is a saying of sorts from my favorite band, Brand New. My friend Natalie first introduced me to Brand New when we were like 14 and whenever I’ve been going through a depressive episode, I would always turn to their music. So this tattoo represents my battle with depression and of course paying homage to my favorite band. I love it.
Today we had a recruitment workshop and it was also a lot of fun. It started at nine in the morning so my mom had to drive me back at six. Yuck much? At least my cold is gone for the most part though. First we had to do a “team-building” activity where we stood in line and had between all of us and we had to march around the house. It forced us to take leadership roles and to work as a team. I was in front so I had to lead everybody else when they were forbidden from talking and had to close their eyes.
After we finished that activity we did the thing where we pass around a sheet of paper with our names on it and people write nice things. Somebody wrote “you have changed my life for the better”on mine and that really stuck out to me. I have NO idea who wrote it and it just touched me very deeply. I love activities like that, where you hear nice things about yourself and what you’ve done for the chapter. Of course we talked a lot of recruitment stuff for the rest of the afternoon but it wasn’t bad. Then we all had to share why we joined Sigma Kappa or what Sigma Kappa meant to us and of COURSE it was a tear-fest. But I loved it. Tomorrow is another workshop and the first meetings of the year. Yay.
